Religious Sisters of Charity Depart from Kilkenny after 157 Years of Service

1801 kilkenny sos thumbOn Friday 12th January 2018 at 11.30am Sr Úna O’Neill and Mr Francis Coughlan signed the official documents for the transfer of St Patrick’s Convent to Special Occupation Scheme Kilkenny Ltd (SOS). SOS will use the building for elderly adults with special needs who need nursing care. This brings to an end 157 years of service by the Congregation to and with the people of the Ossory Diocese.

Konzalendo Parish Pilgrimage to Medjugorje’s Krizevac in Malawi

1801 konzalendo pilgrimage thumbMany people are aware that near Blantyre there are fifteen Stations of the Cross winding up Mirichu Mountain with a large cross on the summit. Groups and individuals can be seen every day quietly making their way up the mountain, stopping at each station and praying before the cross or meditating the scene depicted on a beautiful bronze plaque beside each cross.

The challenges that faced many of the immigrants gave rise to a network of support which came about largely through the initiative of the Oblate Fathers. They set up Welfare centres in some of the major cites and Sisters in the English/Scottish Province worked with them.

Sonas goes to Norway

1801 sonas thumbFor over four years Sr. Benedicte Stroem, a Norwegian member of the Congregation of St. Joseph of Cluny, has been carrying out research based on the Sonas Programme, which was devised by Sr Mary Threadgold RSC in 1990. Sr. Benedicte was formerly Director of Nursing at St. Joseph’s Nursing Home in Chapelizod, Dublin.
